Artist Statement
De Ann Christensen is a multidisciplinary artist engaged in visual, literary, and performing arts. Her visual work includes painting, pastel, collage, assemblage, and she is also an esteemed curator.
In addition to her studio practice, DeAnn is a writer, actress, and film producer with a deep love for storytelling in all its forms.

Artist Bio
De Ann Christensen is blessed to have grown up in rural North Dakota on the border of the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, where her early life was shaped by the rich multicultural presence of both Native Americans alongside communities of second - and third - generation European and Scandinavian settlers. Surrounded by the striking beauty of the badlands, the shores of beautiful Lake Sakakawea, and with the full force of four seasons, she developed a deep connection to nature and an enduring appreciation for cultural diversity from an early age.
As a multidisciplinary artist, De Ann’s creative practice defies categorization. Her work is rooted more in emotional spontaneity and curiosity than in the pursuit of a specific style or artform. Her artistic journey is intentionally fluid, shaped by the moment, personal experiences, cultural undercurrents and her inner transformation. For her, art is both release and discovery.
After exhibiting for several years in Houston, Texas and throughout the Texas Hill Country, De Ann opened the Christensen Gallery in 2022 - an independent art space dedicated to promoting artists and art in all its forms. Her exhibits where built around central themes and included visual art, sculpture, textiles, ceramics, jewelry as well as an indie short film room and immersive installation space. Each exhibit was a complete transformation. At the heart of the Gallery was her desire to create an emotionally layered experience for visitors, with a mission to bring people from all walks of life together to form connections through art and story. After curating four exhibits each year, she closed the Gallery mid 2025 to pursue her next artistic adventure.
With a creative foundation rooted in community and fueled by curiosity and a hunger for new experiences, De Ann is stepping into her next chapter - one that honors her unique perspective, authenticity, desire for cultural and artistic growth, along with freedom of expression. DeAnn continues to explore the invisible threads that connect us all.
